In just six weeks time Double Olympic swimming champion Rebecca Adlington will face one of the most pivotal moments of her career, as she battles to fulfil her dream of competing at a home Games.

Rebecca will line up with Britain’s best swimmers at The British Gas Swimming Championships, which doubles as the Olympic selection trials, from 3rd – 10th March 2012.  There she will get her first taste of competition in the pool at the London Aquatics Centre, where she will be hoping to defend her titles this summer.

Despite winning two gold medals in Beijing and emerging as Britain’s best swimmer in 100 years, the 22-year-old insists London 2012 has always been her target. But, contrary to the assumptions of many, the world champion isn’t there yet and she’ll have to fight off strong competition from her British teammates to secure qualification.

For Rebecca, the 5am starts and 80 kilometres of training every week have all been leading to this.

She has even admitted her focus is so fixed on competing in London this year that a failure to qualify could make her reassess her future in the pool.
